Do not worry if the 5 GHz Wi-Fi does not seem to start immediately after having enabled it. It might be busy for 1-10 min scanning for weather radar, see basic Wi-Fi setup for more background info. Note that you can always run logread on the SSH command line, to gain more insight into what the device is currently doing or to diagnose any kind of problems.

Yes, you are correct. This router only supports 2.4GHz wireless and that is not supported by OpenWRT. u/git_world, the reason you don't see a wireless configuration option under the Network menu is that OpenWRT cannot run wireless on this router. It will only be good as a router, not as an access point.
OpenWRT WiFi configuration instructions - TekLager
https://teklager.se/en/knowledge-base/openwrt-wifi-configuration-instructions
OpenWRT is currently the best operating system for running high-throughput, open-source WiFi access points. It has a full 802.11a/b/g/n/ac support out of the box. pfSense and OPNSense don't support the 802.11ac mode yet. IPFire supports 802.11ac only partially, with much worse performance. If you want to run a reliable and high-performance WiFi ...
