Jun 21, 2019 · For tigervnc and tightvnc the installation proceeds, I create the configuration, but when I try to connect I get a grey screen with a cross cursor. I've tried a VM (clean installation) with Ubuntu 19.04 desktop and vino-server, turned screen sharing on. When I tried to connect with Remmina from the host, I get a black screen, no cursor.

10.05.2020 · I get a gray screen with a mouse pointer (which I can move), but no other options, instead of the standard X session. My xstartup is very basic: #!/bin/bash startxfce4 & but it worked well before! Nevertheless, I tried to change it according to various solutions found on the web, but still I get the grey screen.

Aug 11, 2009 · If the Ubuntu server does not show a grey screen then check the video settings for the VNC connection - try setting them on the windows computer client and if that does not help adjust them on the server.
