I am noticing that the stock firmware that came with the Netgear has much better performance vs. when running ddwrt. With the Netgear stock firmware I am able to achieve speeds of 300Mbps (via speedtest.net) on the 5Ghz band.

13.06.2017 · Re: DD-WRT vs. stock r9000 firmware. As long as it supports the chip set of the router DD-WRT should work fine and may have more features then the Netgear firmware does. Aug 22, 2014 · I flashed DD-WRT on my R8000, worked great, reboots on it's own every night and goes back to DD-WRT factory defaults, complete with password reset prompt. Reverted to Factory Image which sucks because DD-WRT was significantly faster. Just don't want to setup my router every morning, hope DD developers fix that issue.

Jun 10, 2015 · I reverted back to stock firmware after installing DD-WRT firmware for Netgear R8000 based on revision 28514 and uploaded 12-28-2015 by unzipping the .chk file first without any problems. I can't imagine this firmware version would be any different.

Open a tool or script on PC. It copies the config file to the router and starts the service with the new file. When I want to change the config file either open the tool, or script for that file and repeat. I don't know if this can be done through DD-WRT by itself or additional scripting/3rd party tools are required.

I used to use dd-wrt on my R8000. It worked well for a year or so, then the one of the 5GHz wireless transmitters kept stopping at random - it would just disappear. Rebooting often didn’t work. I was using the Kong distribution, which seemed to become unmaintained.
