Created a live usb twice using yumi and rufus. After everthing loads, I just get a blank screen with a mouse cursor. The mouse cursor wouldn’t move and believe the computer froze.
But when I boot without an external monitor, it boots into black screen. However, I can switch to alternate console and login in the terminal. I think it is not entirely a graphics driver related issue, if at all. Because, from the alternate console I can login and then I am able to use startx to directly start the DE. There is no login screen ...
I get around that by pressing "switch user" and pressing enter again. It then shows the splash screen which gets stuck 3/4 of the way though, then just goes to a black screen with my cursor. If I press ctrl + alt + f3 I can login and type "startx" and it will usually let me log in. I have read that it is a SDDM issue.

When i get back to computer and confirm my password, sometimes i have to wait 0-60 seconds with a black screen and only mouse cursor moving and changing its shape as i hover over various elements. journalctl shows these recent messages.
