02.09.2018 · So I installed the latest Manjaro Gnome (17.1.12 Hakoila) on my system with a Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050. But no matter if I choose free or nonfree drivers during install, the system will always use X11 instead of Wayland as $ echo $XDG_SESSION_TYPE X11 shows.

Correct way of enabling Wayland with Nvidia drivers on Plasma ... as well,but it was preinstalled with Manjaro so you might have it.

16.08.2020 · Gnome-layout-switcher has an option to enable wayland. If it is grayed out, it is because it detects you have nvidia card.
