Manjaro KDE: Black screen after login? I searched and tried citr+alt+f2 but it remained black. I tried every f, but nothing changed. I thought it was the installing process that made errors so I re-installed but I still got black screen after login. Notice that I updated everything.

06.10.2020 · Manjaro 20 Gnome has been running great for a month on my AMD 64-bit desktop until an update 2 days ago. Now it boots to a black screen. I found a temporary solution and have to hold down Ctrl + Alt + F2 to get to a tty2. Than I log in and type startx. That brings up the gui. Before the update Manjaro would boot right to the desktop gui.
Running a manjaro VM using VirtualBox, an update seems to have broken it but I'm unsure which one, guidance or tips appreciated. VM boots fine, gets to manjaro splash screen and you can login or choose shutdown etc. "Vboxclient: Failed to get display change request, rc=VERR_ACCESS_DENIED". and then screen goes black.
